Then, discover the Banteay Srei Temple, the “Citadel of Women,” dedicated to Shiva, renowned for its refined architecture and exquisite pink sandstone carvings and bas-reliefs. Day 8: Roluos Temple Complex – Kampong Cham (B, L)

Visit the Roluos Temple Complex, the oldest group of temples in the Angkor region, known as the “Roluos Group,” located about 12 km east of Siem Reap. These temples are the remains of Hariharalaya, which served as the first Khmer capital for nearly 70 years under four successive kings.

Preah Ko is dedicated to Jayavarman II, the first king and founder of the Angkor Kingdom. Bakong is by far the largest temple of the Roluos Group and the first “state temple,” believed to have marked the center of the ancient capital. You will also see the remains of Lolei, four weathered brick towers set on a two-level platform.

Continue your journey to Kampong Kleang, a lakeside village. After lunch at a local home, board a traditional wooden boat for a cruise along the river and then across the vast Tonlé Sap Lake, discovering the daily life of Khmer communities. Local people fish on the lake, including elderly women and young children. In the afternoon, travel onward to Kampong Cham. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel.
